Escape From New York (1981)
In 1997, the city of New York has become a maximum-security prison. When Air Force One crashes behind the wall, war hero turned criminal Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell) is sent to rescue the U.S. President (Donald Pleasence) from the evil Duke of New York (Isaac Hayes). Aided by the reclusive Brain (Harry Dean Stanton), his "main squeeze" Maggie (Adrienne Barbeau), and a helpful cabbie (Ernest Borgnine), Snake has 23 hours to complete his mission...or die. Escape From L.A. (1996) In the year 2000, a massive earthquake ravages the city of Los Angeles, and a religious hypocrite (Cliff Robertson) is made U.S. President for life. Now, its 2013, and Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell) is again recruited for a special mission. "First daughter" Utopia (A.J. Langer) has stolen a top-secret weapon, and sided with maniacal terrorist Cuervo Jones (George Corraface). Snake has just ten hours to find the "black box", before Cuervo invades the mainland with his armies. Costarring Stacy Keach, Steve Buscemi, Pam Grier, and Peter Fonda, this is a worthy sequel to the John Carpenter classic.
