Making Use of Samples from Font Websites

Okay – so you know the name of the font you need for a title or short piece of text, but you can’t find it for free anywhere.

What do you do?

Simple … find a good version of the font on a site that lets you test samples of the font and follow the instructions in the pdf file from the .rar below.

The tutorial shows you how to take a screenshot of the sample font text you need for a title treatment, or other short piece of text, and to turn it into a good quality image that can be used on a cover or label. I've done this numerous times and provided you take the time and do it right the results can look almost as good as if you had the font itself!

The "Book of Eli" text in the 'Nidex Expd' font below is shown as the tutorial example. Also below is an example of the Doobie font characters (That '70s Show) that I made using the same method.

Disclaimer: If followed properly, you can get good results with this method. However just because you followed this method it doesn't mean your results are good!! Always make sure the quality of your finished work is good enough for the site before uploading.
